The Currency of Fame

Created by Nabil Hayari in collaboration with photographer Karen Bystedt, this one-shoulder gown explores Andy Warhol’s fascination with money, celebrity and mass culture. A sleek black mermaid silhouette becomes a provocative canvas for Karen’s photographic portraits of Andy, crowned with graphic gold accents and surrounded by theatrical This Is Andy banknotes. At the shoulder, sculpted black folds and curling notes form a dramatic couture bloom. Both glamorous and subversive, the gown transforms money into ornament and fame into spectacle—an unapologetic statement from the Drama chapter of Hayari Paris’ Floral Chic and Drama collection.
